My family has been begging me for first birthday party photos, so here they are!
The weather could not have been more perfect the day we had William's party. We decided to keep it simple...we grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, and Nathan's mom sweetly brought several side dishes. I had all intentions of making William's "smash cake" from scratch using fruit, applesauce, and all that other healthy stuff. BUT, when Publix told me that I could get a FREE smash cake with the purchase of a birthday cake, how could I resist?!? My stand mixer was still in a box somewhere, so there you have it. Welcome to the world of High Fructose Corn Syrup, son! ;)
We only sent out 12 invitations (all to family...really, what 1 year old has "friends" anyway?), and we were so blessed that some of our Alabama family drove all the way to Tennessee to celebrate our sweet boy.
The guys romped around the woods, threw the football in the front yard, and even after William went down for his afternoon nap several of us sat out on the front porch and chatted, laughed and told stories. It was a really nice time for us all to be together.
And! I can't forget the most exciting part of the whole day! We finally managed to get our couch into our house! It was too large to fit through the front door on moving day, so we had it under our carport until the day of the party. It made for perfect patio furniture that day, so it was a win-win. When one moves to the country, one must live like they are in the country, right? ;) Anyway, several of the guys were able to lift the couch high enough to get it through the Living Room window, and now we have a place to sit!
Enough chit chatting, though. I know what you're really here for ;)
We kept the decorations pretty simple - some balloons, streamers, and a few personal "fun facts" about our sweet boy written on the chalkboard. I also did a spread of his favorite foods - Graham Crackers with peanut butter, Strawberries, and cubed cheese.

He was more interested in eating the candle than the actual cake :)
And when he was done, he was D-O-N-E.
Our guests! Thank you for coming to celebrate with us!
