New Mama Must-Haves

During the first few weeks of being at home with our little wiggler, I realized there were several things that were great to have on hand with a new baby. Some of these products were given to me by friends who already have babies, and some were things that we randomly bought at the store and realized we now love and can't live without. I thought it would be nice to share them in case you're getting ready to welcome a new babe in your world or know someone who is.

During those first few weeks of motherhood when your baby seems to want to eat every hour on the hour, it can be difficult for a new mom to actually find time to sit down and eat herself. Luna Bars make for an excellent and filling treat! The one below happens to be my favorite, but they have many flavors to choose from and they all come packed with tons of vitamins and nutrients. They also have new Luna Fiber bars, which is great for getting things to "move along" after pregnancy. (yes, I went there)

While we're on the topic of food, one of my mommy friends sweetly brought this over after William was born and I will be forever grateful to her for introducing me to this delicious and guilt-free indulgence...

You can make a single serving in a mug by using 2 TBSP of the brownie mix and 1 TBSP nonfat vanilla yogurt. Did I mention they're fat free?

And some stuff we can't live without when it comes to making our babe comfortable...
When we first introduced bottles, we used the cheap Madela ones that came as part of a feeding set we received as a gift. They were decent bottles, but we noticed William would dribble (a lot) and have the occasional spit up. On a whim, we bought these Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Sensitive Tummy Bottles from Target, and we've found these to be worth every penny! They have a special "vent" inside that reduces spit-ups and we hardly ever have dribble issues any more. They're also super easy to clean and assemble!

Another thing our baby boy loves is to suck on a pacifier before drifting off to sleep. We originally purchased the Advent Soothie pacifiers, which are very similar to the ones they give you in the hospital, but we soon discovered that they fall out of his mouth quickly. As to not become slaves to his pacifier, we set out in search of some that would conform to his mouth a bit better. A friend mentioned these Nuk Orthodontic Silicone Pacifiers and ever since we've switched he seems to like them and they stay put in his mouth!
That's pretty much it when it comes to the essentials around here. Thankfully baby boy seems pretty low maintenance right now, and doesn't prefer anything fancy. In fact, he doesn't even like to swaddle anymore (as demonstrated below) so all those fancy blankets we received are getting used during tummy time or as cover-ups for his car seat. ;)

My responsible blogger note: I was not perked or payed or even asked to promote these products, I just love 'em and thought I'd share them with you! :)

  1. So cute! :) He looks so precious in that last picture.

  2. Great tips -- I'm thankful you shared. And, you've found some good things that work well for you.

  3. Such a cutie! YAY for Tommee Tippee bottles! I'd be lost without them too. Little William sounds like my little Zack, only wants his paccy when he is falling asleep. But when he is done with it you better have a shield because he can launch that thing across the room. :) I'll have to look for the brownies, those look yummy. Do they have some Surgeon Generals Warning that they are for new mommies only? If not, I'll never get one, the tribe will swarm in and eat them all.

    1. HA! Your comment cracked me up Missy! There's not a warning on the brownies, but it does help that you can make a single serving. Then you could just tell your tribe that there was only 1 brownie and it belongs to mommy! ;)

  4. Loved that sweet picture of William sleeping - precious! I may have to try to brownies- sounds like the perfect amount to settle my after dinner (and lunch...and afternoon...)sweet tooth!

We love hearing from our readers. Thanks for stopping by to leave us a comment!
All the best,
