And we're back . . .

Thanks so much to everyone who wished us well on our trip to Nashville.  We had a wonderful time with Nathan’s family, and are slowly getting settled back at home now.

We flew out of Nashville Monday afternoon, where it was a balmy 35 degrees.  When we landed in Detroit for our layover, it was a frigid -6 and snowy! (We are already missing the milder weather!)  We had about 5 minutes to get to our flight, and thankfully we made it just in time.  Our luggage, however; did not.  But again, thankfully, the luggage made it to our doorstep yesterday morning just as I was headed to work.  The Lord watched over us in our travels, and even allowed our baggage to get home before we were expecting it.  Tonight we’ll be unpacking and resting; traveling definitely takes its toll!  But before I do that (and because I love avoiding the inevitable), I thought I’d share a few photos from our fun-filled weekend:

Thursday when we arrived, we spent the rest of the day relaxing with Nathan’s parents and catching up.

Friday, Nathan went with his dad to some local coin shops while Nathan’s mom and I went shopping and out to eat.  We found a local Italian restaurant in Nashville that was recently featured on the Food Network show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives – Savarino’s Cucina.  The owners are originally from Sicily, and moved to Brooklyn to open a bakery.  A couple of years ago they left and came to Nashville.  I had to take my picture in front and send it to my mom, who had recently seen the episode:

We ate some delicious salads and split lasagna.  And of course, we ordered dessert. :)  It was such a treat!

Friday afternoon, Nathan’s sister arrived from South Carolina and we met up with Nathan’s brother’s and their significant others and all headed to eat and then to the Schermerhorn to hear the Nashville Symphony perform.  We had the best time, and were all really blown away by the tremendous talent of the young performers.

Of course, I forgot my camera.

Saturday, Nathan’s extended family drove up from Huntsville and we ate lunch and spent some time catching up with them.  Nathan has a new cousin (who is now 1-year-old that we’ve never met), so we really enjoyed getting to officially meet him.  Saturday afternoon, Nathan’s siblings came over and we enjoyed a post-Christmas, played some games, and enjoyed dinner and laughs with them.  I did finally remember to break out my camera . . .
