It's All in the Details, Part 1

I mentioned back in this post that Nathan and I are getting ready to celebrate our 1-year anniversary.  In light of this, throughout the next month, I'll be reminiscing back to our Big Day and posting some about what we've learned during our first year of marriage.

Because I’m a lover of event planning and details (and love looking at my wedding pictures a thousand times over), I thought I’d delve into all the juicy details from our Big Day. I almost can’t control my excitement!  It’s going to be like living the day all over again.  And for those of you who were at our wedding, it’s probably going to be the most boring thing ever, so you’re excused while I gush.  For the rest of you . . .

You're Invited to
(go back in time to . . .)
The wedding of Nathan & Rachel
When: June 13, 2009 @ 6 PM
Where: Gardendale, Alabama
Why Alabama? Because it was easier than flying everyone to NY, of course.

Because I was in L-O-V-E with our photographer, I’ll let her photos speak more than my words.  Her name is Jessica Wright, and she's a Birmingham Photographer and a former sorority sister of mine.  All these photos go to her credit, and if you ever need a photographer and you happen to live down south, check her page out here.

The first thing I chose for the wedding were the colors.  I have always loved the colors green and pink together, but I knew that no red-headed brother of Nathan’s was going to march down the aisle in a pink vest, tie, tux or anything.  I also knew my bridesmaids would look stunning in green (and a few of them made me promise not to make them wear pink!).  So I decided to do green for the gals, champagne for the guys and accent with pink details.  I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but on the Big Day it all came together so nicely.

The guys in their swanky tuxes.  That one in the middle there is mine. :)

Nathan chose a traditional tux, and his vest and tie were white.
Isn't he so handsome??

This is one of my favorites of him from the wedding.
Ok, ok . . . I'll stop talking about how incredibly good looking my man is. :)

Here are my beautiful bridesmaids in their could-this-color-look-any-more-flattering-on-all-of-them dresses

This is the dress I chose . . . It was definitely far from what I originally thought I wanted.  But when I tried it on, it just felt so right.

My sweet mom made my veil.  She did such a great job!

And these were just for a fun punch of color under my dress.
Everyone knows I love heels, and pink, so these were so me!

Here's my dad walking me down the aisle.
He doesn't look a bit distraught, does he?  Nor do I look the slightest bit nervous . . .

And here we are getting hitched!
My dad and Nathan's dad performed the ceremony for us.  So special!

And here's the big smooch. :)

And there we are officially married and blissfully happy.

Stay tuned for more!!
